The basic function of the Estimator is to meet mutually-established sales goals by securing new projects including estimating, the tender process and contract agreements. Once secured, the Estimator is responsible for the complete and proper hand off process to the assigned Project Manager in order to ultimately ensure success of the project.

• Generates new sales from leads provided by others or generates new leads independently.
• Prepares job estimates based on the scope developed from one or more of the following: client or contractor input, site walks, client or architectural drawings, production department input, building code requirements, or other internal or external information sources.
• Prepares, submits and tracks all bid or tender documents.
• Communicates regularly with the client on the quote process and issues requiring client input/clarification.
• Sources non-standard stocked materials required for the job.
• Once project secured, conducts a proper hand off to the Project Manager and other team members to ensure project success.
• Works with Project Managers to facilitate drawing development.
• Follow up with client to gather further information on unsuccessful quotes.
• Assists PMs with quoting change orders.
• Establishes and maintains sound working relationship with the company´s client base and assists the President with business development.
• Maintains strategic relationships with key clients (external and internal), vendors, and other third party entities and continually strives to maintain state-of-the art knowledge of the industry.
• In conjunction with the Senior Project Manager, develops individual annual revenue forecasts.
• Supports the company with accurate and timely information and reports.
• In conjunction with the team, conducts periodic lessons-learned meetings with key staff and leads involved in past projects.
• In conjunction with the client, architects and engineers, ensures that projects are in compliance with applicable building codes.
• Work within the company´s health and safety program.
• Works with the project management team to develop and continually improve the company´s estimating programs.

Your Experience and Qualifications
• Post-secondary education in technical engineering, design, project management, or similar
• 5 - 10 years in business development, sales, estimating and/or some project management in metal fabrication construction industry preferably with a $5M+ revenue company
• Experience in estimating with laser cutting and other CNC manufacturing equipment is an asset
